Six Deaths of the Saint by Alix E. Harrow
After picking up Fonda Lee's Untethered Sky, I decided to pick up the acclaimed Six Deaths of the Saint because I've only heard good things about it.
Well, good things in the sense that people say they bawled their eyes out and...then proceeded to rate the book 5 stars. That kind of "good things" which is how it usually goes in the book community.
Nevertheless, I think I stand firm in my belief that an author's true skill shines in their ability to pack a punch in less than 200 pages - it's difficult and with some books becoming ridiculously long and much longer than they need to be, I tend to turn to the authors that have written not only long-form books (200-500 pages on average) but also short-form books, such as Fonda Lee having written The Green Bone Saga and then writing Untethered Sky.
Six Deaths of a Saint pulls on your heartstrings - it has an almost *Groundhog Day* trope that it builds upon but it's also a story that I can't say much about, you're going to have to pick it up and read it yourself.
I promise though, while I am picky with the books I choose to indulge in because I don't want to waste my time with boring (and often popular) books, I highly recommend this one - I promise it's not going to be a waste of your time.
Rating: 4.75/5 stars
